I was interested in where we stand with snowpack this year and drew this site back up: ftp://ftp-fc.sc.egov.usda.gov/CO/Sno...y/snmap209.pdf
Was happy to see that we are at or slightly above normal for most areas. I guess I have not been aware of mountain weather and only paying attention to front range where it seems that we have been incredibly dry. Interesting as compared to last year where most of the map was over 150%.

Thanks for the link Randy. Hopefully some of the moisture we're getting lately will help those numbers on the front range. Spring is no fun for photography if the plant life around here is still brown and dry! I'm hoping things will begin to green up a little now.

Randy,
Ran across your post in the Conditions forum and the URL you suggested to view snow pack conditions. Here's a link that will give you very specific info: http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/reports...ateReport.html In step 1, select "Colorado" and then just click "Create Report" at the bottom and that will give you a list of all snow measurement areas by basin in Colorado through the current date. Check out the April version this year
ftp://ftp-fc.sc.egov.usda.gov/CO/Sno...y/snmap410.pdf versus the february version ftp://ftp-fc.sc.egov.usda.gov/CO/Sno...y/snmap210.pdf Looks like we could see some decent flowers again in the Hayman Burn in a couple months. |
