Default Elk Rut

Looking to shoot (both still and video) elk bugling and (hopefully) fighting this fall during the rut. In most years, when does this usually occur? I know where I just moved from in Arkansas, the elk typically rut in late October or early November, but I suspect that the rut hits here in Colorado much earlier. Thanks! Also, any good location suggestions would be appreciated. Below are some images I took this past Sunday in Rocky Mtn Nat Park.

The elk rut here (CO) starts early to mid Sept. and usually goes into mid October, tapering off toward the end of course.
Nice pics!
Have fun but watch out for the crowds.
I'm going to try to get some shots of some "wild" elk out here in the trophy unit by Dinosaur NM.

I was up there last Sunday and found three 4x4 Bulls butting heads. A little early and they stand little chance of actually scoring, but it was fun to watch. Just the three bulls. Interesting shots of them crossing the Big Thompson across from the Moraine Park Visitor Center up near where they road goes by the community of in-dwellers.
