I just returned from a family camping trip at Steamboat Lake. Throughout the State park, there are fields of arnica and lots of lupine and larkspur among the trees. The whole Yampa valley is beautifully green and we saw huge patches of wild iris in the low wetland areas. The whole area is shaping up nicely for great wildflower season.

I meant to include some of this info in my Lake Isabelle report but spaced it out. Anyways, lots of Golden Banner along the road in to Brainard Lake area at about 9800ft. Saw one Purple Fringe at Red Rock Lake and one Parry Primrose around Long Lake. Other than that all along the trail to Lake Isabelle there were lots of Globeflower and White Marsh Marigold.

There are a couple of nice sections of flowers on the slopes above Cumberland Pass, to the east. The shot below was taken on 7/5. Of course, there are a lot of plants just getting started, but this beginning stage is pretty nice. Also, the west side of Cottonwood Pass has quite a bit of lupine out yet.

Today at James Peak Wilderness at Moffat entrance, Columbines galore among others, like paintbrush a little higher in elevation. The yellow flowers in clumps (not sure what they are) are all over the place too, along with bluebells... Turning out to be very nice up there!

Tried to make it to Arapaho Lakes but we got rained upon and thunderstorms were threatening. Also SNOWPACK is still an issue around 11K!

ID:	833As the title says, these are from Chicago Creek last Saturday. There are a lot of flowers, and several different types. I only hiked up 1/2 mile or maybe a little farther, Great day to be out. I could have done without the cyclists, as Forrest said, "There were about a million of them!".
